The Melanin Makers' Market is a mission-driven, for-profit business that provides a space for makers of color to bring their goods & talents to market.
The Melanin Makers’ Market was conceived in the living room of one of the founders in 2019. It was founded by Arielle Lang, a visual artist and Takiela Langley, a natural skincare product maker, out of frustration from the lack of representation of people of color in the local craft fairs and markets. The market has been bootstrapped from visualization to manifestation.
The first market was held in November 2019 in Brunswick, GA and hosted more than 30 vendors. The Melanin Makers’ Market continues to grow and shine a spotlight on local makers and businesses of color.
